Overview of the course
If you have a strong materials background and want to gain more specialised knowledge of advanced engineering materials, this course is for you.This Advanced Materials Chemistry Masters course enables you to develop and further your knowledge on a range of core modules, culminating in a materials engineering-led research project within one of our diverse range of research groups.Throughout the course you’ll study the functional roles of nanocomposites and inorganic solids, develop an understanding of the interplay between structure and observed properties, and explore investigation methods. You’ll also study biomimetic and supramolecular approaches in materials chemistry.You’ll study under the Chemistry team who are comprised of academic and support staff that are subject experts in organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry. Teaching and student satisfaction are very important to us and we have won awards and recognition for this aspect of our work.Accredited by: Royal Society of ChemistryHow you’re taughtThis programme is delivered by a combination of traditional lectures, seminars and tutorials, together with laboratory classes and laboratory based research project.If you are a full-time student, you will have the opportunity to carry out a research project in an a chemistry research group at Nottingham Trent University or with one of our industrial, academic or health sector partners. For students from Sri Lanka
Student need to hold Sri Lankan Degree at Second Class Lower, 50% or GPA 2.7 for 2:2 and Second Class Upper for 2:1 for entry to masters courses. IELTS: 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.Students should have a UK honours degree (minimum 2.2) or equivalent subject including Chemistry, Forensics, Pharmacology and Pharmacy. Students with relevant employment experience or other relevant qualifications will also be considered. Students should have an IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component. TOEFL iBT – Overall score of 81 with at least 10 Reading, 9 Listening, 17 Speaking, 19 Writing.
For international students
IELTS (Academic only) – 7.0 (or better) (no component lower than 7.0); TOEFL (paper based) – 600 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) – 250 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) – 95 (or better) (with 22 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) – 65 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 65); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE – Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) and Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE)/ 185 or above. No less than 185 in each skill.
