Name of the course: Master of Arts One-year / Two-year Degree Programme in Linguistics
(MA in Linguistics)

02. Aims and objectives: This programme is designed to enhance the awareness of the nature, structure,
and function of language in general, and to develop the candidates’ ability to execute the
knowledge on linguistics in dealing with practical activities related to the candidates’ native
language. It will also encourage candidates to conduct research on, one or the others aspects of
language as selected by them.

03. Learning outcomes:
By the end of this programme, candidates will be able to analyse language structure, diachronic
aspects of language analysis, and the capability for methodical teaching and learning of language
significantly. Candidates will gain considerable knowledge of language and society, identification
of psychological processes and biological functions of language. Further, the candidates will
enhance the ability to resolve practical problems related to language as well as the competence in
engaging in higher research studies on language.

04. Entry requirements:
A degree with not less than three academic years obtained from a recognized university or such
higher education institution which offers degrees, recognized by the University Grants
Commission.
