01. Name of the Course : Master of Arts Two year Degree Programme in Linguistics (M A in Linguistics)

02. Aims and Objectives: This programme is designed to enhance the awareness of the nature, structure

and function of language in general, and to develop the candidates’ ability to execute linguistic
knowledge in dealing with practical activities related to the candidates’ own language, it will also
encourage candidates to do research on, one or the other aspect of the language as selected by them.

03. Learning Outcomes

By the end of this programme, the candidate will be able to analyze language structure and the
capability for methodical teaching and learning of language will be developed significantly,
students will gain considerable knowledge of language planning, identification of psychological
processes and biological functions of language, language disabilities and clinical linguistics.
Further, the candidates will enhance their ability to resolve practical problems related to language
as well as their competence in engaging in higher research studies on language.

04. Entry Requirements

A degree with not less than three academic years obtained from a recognized university or such
higher education institution which gives degrees, recognized by University Grants Commission.
