Course Description
Wound care Management an area of specialization that deals with the care and management of patients of all ages with different kind of wounds. Over the years there has been a significant rise in the number of patients with diabetes causing diabetic foot wounds and patients with road traffic accidents requiring specialist care and management. The number of nurses, and others, providing wound care has grown greatly in recent years, but there are still far too few highly educated and competent wound care nurses.

Centers catering especially to Diabetes and its management are coming up and require nurses to have the necessary skills to manage wounds of at different stages of healing. This course will contribute to the training of nurses to manage the wounds that require close monitoring and care and training nurses to deliver an international standard of Wound Care Management.

Course Outcomes
This course is designed to promote the development of advanced knowledge and skills in wound management. It revises the anatomy and physiology of the skin, examines the physiology of wound healing, wound assessment, principles of wound management and explores specific types of wounds and their management. Professional issues related to wound management practice are also explored. It encourages the use of current literature and best practice models to critically evaluate current clinical practice. The aim of this course is to

update the nurses on important aspects of wound care.

update on wound cleansing and dressing methods.
provide a guide on how to prevent and manage infection.
provide health professionals with up-to-date information, tools, and strategies for best-practice wound management
