Assured Diploma in Academic English

Academic English differs considerably from everyday spoken or ‘social’ English. It refers to expressing ideas in a clear, precise and objective manner, using a formal tone, more advanced vocabulary, expression and sentence structure, coupled with critical evaluation. This course prepares students for undergraduate and postgraduate studies in a university environment. Students will be tutored on how to develop Reading and Writing Skills, Sourcing Materials, Summarizing and Reformulation Techniques, Research Proposal Writing Skills, Vocabulary Building Techniques, English Grammar for Academic Purposes, Academic Presentation Techniques. Students will be encouraged to develop their own subject-specific vocabulary, as well as distinctive style of writing.
