Aircraft maintenance is the technical process that is performed on the aircraft while it remains in line or in base and aircraft are required for maintain and restore their integrity and performance to keep them in good working condition. Absence of or Improper aircraft maintenance and inspections can lead to major issues and could even lead to accidents resulting in colossal financial losses and probably fatalities. Appropriately qualified and suitably trained aircraft maintenance personnel are a prerequisite for ensuring proper maintenance of aircraft.
AACEA’s Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course is designed to equip the students with knowledge and skills necessary to perform aircraft maintenance, initially as mechanics or technicians and excel as professionals by subsequently obtaining aircraft type ratings and becoming aircraft maintenance type rated engineers.
The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.2 Basic Training Course offered of AACEA covers the knowledge and practical training component of Aircraft Maintenance Licence in category B 1.2 – Aeroplane Piston. The course is conducted with the approval of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL). Students successfully completing the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course will be awarded the Certificate of Recognition in confirmation of having successfully completed the B1.2 – Aeroplanes Piston Basic Training Course, enabling the student to demonstrate basic knowledge requirement at Aircraft Maintenance Licence examinations conducted by the CAASL in the corresponding subject modules.
The Course is delivered in modular format and is intended to provide theoretical and practical exposure in aircraft maintenance in appropriate subject modules in accordance with Appendix I to SLCAIS – 66 : Implementing Standards – Personnel Licensing Requirements – Aircraft Maintenance Licence.
The course will be considered as an approved basic training course in calculating the experience required for the issue of Aircraft Maintenance Licence in sub-category B1.2 – Aeroplanes Piston and B3 – Piston Engine Non-Pressurized Aeroplanes of 2000 kg MTOM or below.
