Overview of the course
Protecting organisations from cyber-attacks is a valuable skill and graduates are highly sought after and it’s one we’ll prepare you for.You’ll explore how to detect and identify security risks before building on this with developing your own preventative measures – all with plenty of opportunities to test your solutions in our industry-standard facilities.Building on a solid foundation covering network and system technologies, this course covers the core knowledge and skills needed to protect businesses against security threats. You will develop a detailed understanding of computer security issues, the detection of computer-based crime and the preservation and interpretation of digital evidence of crime.This course is accredited by the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT to Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status. There’s an opportunity for a year-long paid work placement and the School has strong links with local industry.
Entry requirements
For students from Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan A/Levels, English language entry requirements are Sri Lankan GCE A-Level: Grade C, IELTS 6.0 with minimum of 5.5 in each component or alternative English language qualification accepted by the University at the appropriate grade Students who do not meet the English language requirements may be required to take a pre-sessional English language (PEAP) course.
For international students
IELTS (Academic only) – 7.0 (or better) (no component lower than 7.0); TOEFL (paper based) – 600 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) – 250 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) – 95 (or better) (with 22 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) – 65 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 65); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE – Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) and Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE)/ 185 or above. No less than 185 in each skill.
