Overview of the course
Our MSc Human Resource Management (HRM) course is ideal for students from any academic discipline who want to build a successful career in HR. The course is designed specifically to enable those who are seeking to start such a career, to gain a Masters qualification in HRM through completing a course of study that has been approved by the professional body for HRM practitioners, namely the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).During your studies, you will explore a full range of HRM approaches, techniques and methodologies. The modules will provide you with a solid grounding in HRM and its practice in contemporary organisations.You’ll gain internationally-relevant skills that create career opportunities in consultancy, recruitment, training and other HR roles which facilitate global business. The emphasis is on applying knowledge, skills and techniques to analyse HRM practices and strategies.The Consultancy Experience Project (or an Applied Dissertation, on the two-year course) gives you the opportunity to apply the knowledge and analytical skills you have acquired throughout your studies enabling you to make costed recommendations to the senior managers of a real organisation on a business HR issue.Successful completion of this course leads to Associate Membership of the CIPD, and is a prerequisite for you to eventually apply for Chartered Membership and ultimately enable you to apply to progress to Chartered Fellowship of the CIPD. For students from Sri Lanka
Student need to hold Sri Lankan Degree at Second Class Lower, 50% or GPA 2.7 for 2:2 and Second Class Upper for 2:1 for entry to masters courses. IELTS: 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.Students will need an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK undergraduate honours degree (2.2 or above). For 1-year Masters you’ll need a 6.5 grade overall with minimum of 5.5 in each component. For 2-year Masters you’ll need a 6.5 grade overall with a minimum of 6.0 in speaking and listening, and 5.5 in reading and writing. TOEFL iBT – Overall score of 81 with at least 10 Reading, 9 Listening, 17 Speaking, 19 Writing.
For international students
IELTS (Academic only) – 7.0 (or better) (no component lower than 7.0); TOEFL (paper based) – 600 (or better) (with a minimum Test of Written English Score of TWE 5); TOEFL (electronic or computer based) – 250 (or better) (with essay rating of at least 5); TOEFL (internet based) – 95 (or better) (with 22 minimum in all bands); Pearson (PTE Academic) – 65 (or better) (with no communicative score less than 65); Cambridge English Scale Scores for FCE, CAE and CPE – Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) and Cambridge English Proficiency (CPE)/ 185 or above. No less than 185 in each skill.
