Certificate in Herbal Cosmetic Products Development (Cert HCPD)

Ayurveda is a philosophy which deals internal beauty and external beauty along with healthy life
style. It advocates daily regimens, seasonal regimens and rituals with important herbs. Most of
these herbs possess remarkable properties that can enhance external beauty of individuals.
Similarly, these herbs can be customized on Prakruti of a person (Nature of the body). The main
constraints of utilizing these precious herbs are; inconvenient dosage forms, lack of availability
and maintaining stability for longer usage. Therefore, wide range of herbal cosmetic products are
emerging by claiming the properties of these herbs. Considering the huge demand of these products and as the leading Ayurveda teaching body of Sri Lanka, FIM has scheduled to launch a certificate course that provides knowledge, hands-on experience, and their regulations.
Certificate in Herbal Cosmetic Products Development (Cert HCPD) is a 4 months/ 100 hours
course conducted by the Department of Ayurveda pharmacology, Pharmaceutics and Community Medicine. It has been designed for the candidates who seek professional development with skill fulfilment in cosmetic product development.

Objectives

The prime aim of the course is to provide knowledge on manufacturing process of herbal
cosmetic products, analysis, quality controlling of cosmetic products and their regulations.
At the end of this course student will be able to:
1. identify the Ayurveda and novel concepts in herbal cosmetic products
2. apply the knowledge and skills of the herbal cosmetic product development process
3. apply the knowledge on standardization and quality control methods of drug
preparations
4. aware the rules and regulations on herbal cosmetic products development in Sri Lanka
