Diploma course in Sinhala for Speakers of Tamil

Qualification: Having passed G.C.E (A/L) examination or any other examination equals to them.
(Professional and practical needs will be specially addressed.)

• DSST – 13017 Approach to Language I – Spoken Sinhala
• DSST – 13028 Approach to Language II – Written Sinhala
• DSST – 13037 Practical Writing and Appreciation of Modern Sinhala Literature
• DSST – 13048 Sinhala Culture

Objectives:
• Improving the listening and spoken competence of Sinhala language of non-Sinhala
student of Sri Lanka, in order to support the State language principle of Trilingual
knowledge
• Improving the Sinhala language knowledge for professional as well as daily activities and
improving translation competency
• Improving the spoken and written competencies of Sinhala as a communicative media
• Improving accurate knowledge and appreciation of Sinhala language and culture
